2009 Resolutions.

With the year coming to a close in 13 hours, I've decided I would partake in the common tradition of New Year's Resolution. But I didn't feel like just picking one. I took a cue from Ethan and decided to make a list of things I wished to fulfill this year:

-get healthy. actually work out, cut down on the crap i eat, the whole nine yards.
-read Catcher In The Rye and 1984 and Brace New World. being a part of the 'advanced' or 'accelerated' program, they really rip us out of some of the standard high school experiences... like Catcher, for example. so I'll read them on my own [:
-
smile more at strangers.
-get over my crippling shyness. start doing things on my OWN rather than relying on people. i'm leaving for college in august, and that knowledge brings the realization that i will HAVE to start doing these things on my own. so, here i go!
-take a hike just for the nature
-take a photograph that truely means something to me.
-take a photograph that has the ability to move someone to tears.
-
go outside more.
-be less conservative. i totally never take risks, and this is high school. i'll never get to be a 'kid' again, and i need to just have fun, rather than always worry.
-run another relay/captain another team.
-
pull a really awesome senior prank.
-do more selfless acts.
-
crowd surf. (what, janaye's never crowd surfed?!)
-
get behind the barricade at a show and take photographs.
-
completely get rid of my enemies. (this will involve talking to some kids i've had beefs with for a longggg time, and totally expelling the negativity, or at the very least, clearing the air and create some understanding. )
-visit someplace haunted.
-floss more (the dentist ALWAYS bitches)
-challenge my mom more, instead of being afraid to ask her things.
-handle life as a mature adult.
-contradictory but... keep hold of my childlike nature.
-
embrace my whiteness. i'm going to stop tanning and just embrace the fact i am pale and that pale is beautiful.
-finish my intro to dianetics course.
-purification rundown.
-watch more NatGeo, Discovery, and History channel.
-learn more than the alphabet in ASL.
-
be less of a flake. i can be a really shitty, flakey friend, and i'm goign to work on that. i won't get into the reason why i think i'm a flake.
-get clear skin. (proactive, anyone?)
-
confidence. this kind of goes with the shy thing, but hot damn. i become highly insecure in unfamiliar situations for no good reason. i can't even put myself out there for the littlest things. so, i'm going to start doing that.
-take a totally random college course as part of my GE.
-be less posessive of bands.
-sell something on ebay/amazon.
-
read more frequently. (i'll sit down and finish a book in 2 days, but I need to start reading during the week instead of watching 5 hours of Scrubs or Big Bang Theory or Mythbusters.)
-memorize the Big Bang Theory theme song!
-stop caring what people see you do. dance if you want to dance. sing of you feel like singing. blow your nose. that'a girl.
-
hold my friends closer.
-ride my bike through the park more.
-be able to make it up my street (it's a big hill) on my bike without stopping to walk it to my house. boo-rah.
-now... do this on a high speed setting. (shit. i need to get in shaaape, son!)
-cut those people from my life who truely mean nothing and cause more harm than good.
-embrace peoploe a little better. i'm always one to find annoyances and raven knows better than anyone i like to poke fun and diss. but i need to appreciate the idiosyncracies and foibles that make us all unique, whether or not i like them.
-twitter more often.
-blogspot more often.
-visit venice beach, in the night or the day.
-love my body. actually be comfortable in my own skin.
-grow out my hair and wear it curly/naturally.
-learn to lie. (you know, just in case i'll ever actually need it.)
-
learn. learn, learn, learn, learn, learn. i love knowledge.
-
give things away. we are not our materials. "If you love it, you've got to give it away." -AK
-write in my journal more.
-drink more tea.
-get some wicked fang caps.
-
cook more. (this also includes baking, broiling, sauteing, etc.)
-expel my own negativity. i often feel down, and i don't want to be like that any more.
-complete a to-do list.

I'll deffinitely be adding to this list as the year goes on.
But as of now (31 Dec 2008), these are the things I want to do in 2009.
Feel free to make suggestings of things you think I, or anybody!, should do at least once in their life. (Don't tell me 'scuba on the barrier reef'; that's not something I can do in '09 lol.)

Peace.
